Devlog 3: Prototype
Devlog 3: Prototype
Hi everyone! We are back with a new update on our game Trash Pandas.
Changes
Since our last prototype didn’t get approved, we had to bundle our powers and to work toghether . We have added some new features to the game to make it more suspensefull and appealing to the players. A short list of the new things we have decided on:
- A pick up timer:
- When you try to pick up the items, you will need to hold the pickup button for some time to pick it up.
- A hit animation:
- When players attack, a hit animation follows.
- Less items:
- There are less items on the level so players will need to compete more collecting items and with themseflves in turn .
- Chests:
- Multiple chests are around the map that you can hit. When they are getting hit they gradually drop items until the mesh hit’s it’s treshold and it’s destroyed.
- Dropping items:
- Now you can drop a random item by pressing a button . Which is a risk as the player never knows if he’ll drop a rare one as the roomba looms in.
- Item weight:
- The weight of an item adds more impact on the speed of the player than in the previous example that was quite slow.
- Roomba rework:
- The roomba can’t be jumped on anymore. The roomba will charge players as well when they see one.
We hope that these new features will improve our game greatly and have a positive effect on our gameplay.
Art
Our artists have done some reworking as well. Julian, Anna and Joe have reworked he Techdoc and the Game design document. These documents are way more precise and have a better layout. The game design document is now Object oriented as well.
We wanted to give more character to our game. That is why Anna and Joe have worked on a blockout of the game of how it would look eventually. This will bring the idea of the level across some more. Besides that, Anna has made a nice low poly model of a raccoon that we now use as a the game character.
Programming
After a week of hard work, our programmers Maxim and Dylan have finished all of the extra changes that are stated above.
